A Sneak Peek At My Winter Destination Wedding In Texas
Hello, friends! I am SO excited to finally be sharing a sneak peek of my destination wedding! This past February, I was the one on the other side of the aisle saying, “I Do”, and it was without a doubt, the best weekend of my life! However, the first big question we had to figure out was where we would get married. One of the things that Jeremy + I bonded over early in our relationship was our love of traveling. And while we both call California home, we knew we didn’t want to get married in LA and considered San Francisco (where Jeremy is from) but we knew with such a large guest count that we needed a space that was more budget friendly and easier for family to get to. Therefore, the decision of having a destination wedding was an easy one to make!
After touring different venues, we ultimately chose Prospect House in Dripping Springs, Texas. We had previously attended another friend’s wedding there in 2019 + fell in love with the space! (Fun fact: Did you know that Dripping Springs is the “Wedding Capital” of Texas? As a professional wedding planner, this was definitely a sign that we had found our dream venue). I was able to call on some of my talented vendor friends to help bring our wedding vision to life!
The Design
You might recall in the blog post where I shared what I learned during the planning process, is that it is okay to dial down the design. Listen, I love Pinterest and I love my clients with big design visions, but for Jeremy + I personally, we knew that was an area where we could focus on just a few key details. For example, I always wanted to design a tablescape with taper candles sans vases – something that is just not possible in Los Angeles. However, I was able to finally design this dreamy table for my wedding! Additionally, I chose all white florals with pops of green + neutral champagne and peach accents. We kept a refreshed modern vibe to all the décor that tied into clean, natural vibes of Prospect House flawlessly.
On the menu was Texas BBQ and Tacos, speciality cocktails with a full bar, had an amazing charcuterie grazing table for cocktail hour, fresh chocolate chip cookies with pecan bars and peach cobbler for dessert and my personal favorite, a speciality coffee bar! We wanted a beautiful day with a great party experience for our guests; especially because everyone was traveling for the weekend. We even hosted a welcome party the day before the wedding at a local brewery which gave not only us but everyone more time to mingle with friends and family. All in all, I think we achieved a fantastic wedding weekend experience and I couldn’t be happier with how everything turned out!
My Advice For Couples Planning
My biggest pieces of wedding planning advice, do what you and your fiancé want to do and don’t worry about anyone else and what they prefer, it only matters what you decide and you care about. Also, enjoy every aspect of the weekend and let go of anything that might go wrong. Be fully present and soak it all up because it seriously goes by in a flash. Before you know it, the weekend or the day is over and you want to make sure you’re present and really being in the moment!
