My Epic Bachelorette Party in Cabo

How I Celebrated My Bachelorette + Tips On How To Plan Yours

Hello, friends! If you follow along on Instagram, you will see that I recently got married to the love of my life, Jeremy! It was such a beautiful experience planning my own wedding; so, this month I’m going to take you along on the entire journey! From engagement photos to my takeaways while planning, I am so excited to share every step with you! Today, we’re focusing on bachelorette parties + my tips to make your bachelor/bachelorette party a memorable experience.

Choose Your Vibe

The very first step to planning your bachelorette party is figuring out how you want to feel. Is it an all-out wild party, something small and intimate, local, destination? A whole weekend or just one night? Getting a good understanding for what would make you feel the happiest will be the compass for the remaining decisions. Do a brainstorming session where you write down your wildest dreams, then go from there based on what’s feasible/within budget. For me, personally, I knew I wanted a mix of fun, sun and some chill downtime with closest friends.

Pick The Destination

Once you have determined the atmosphere of the event, then you can decide where you want to go. Keep in mind, you absolutely do not have to travel for your bachelor/bachelorette party! Staying local or exploring a new area in your city can be a ton of fun (and budget friendly!) For example, bar hopping or dinner at your favorite restaurant are great options! A local spa or hotel is also a great way to “get away” without actually getting on a plane. If you are interested in traveling, there are so many options! Because I knew I wanted something that would allow for both play and pool time, 9 of my closest friends and I went to an all-inclusive resort in Cabo. That way, it took the guesswork out of planning all of our activities and having to deal with venmos back and forth to cover costs. No one wants that, so an all inclusive was the best route to go!

Plan Activities + Theme

While not necessary, using games, themes and activities are a great way to get everyone involved and excited for the party! If traditional bachelor/bachelorette games aren’t your jam (which I didn’t want), then consider adding in a themed night. Social Media is jam packed with ideas for themed bachelorette ideas such as “wigging out”, or have everyone dress as a character from your favorite show, or everyone wears a specific color. Truly, the sky’s the limit and it’ll allow your friends to get creative. (Just make sure it’s within a budget that is comfortable for everyone.) For my bachelorette, we did a festival theme night, a yacht one day and had a fancy dress up night the last night there. It was so much fun!

Let Go Of Control

At some point, you need to let go of the reins and let your friends/family simply celebrate you and let them plan! As a planner, I can’t say this came easy to me but once my friends got a sense of what vibe I wanted (see above), I let them take things off my plate and plan away. I wanted to be surprised and just show up to have fun and not be a part of the planning. You can even split up tasks like one person in charge of making a dinner reservation, one person in charge of decorations, etc. Whatever works best! Because at the end of the day, your friends and family really do want to enjoy this chapter with you! So let them spoil you a bit.

I hope this was helpful to plan your bachelor/bachelorette party! My biggest piece of advice is there is no right or wrong way to have one, so don’t get caught up with what you see on social media. Do what you and your friends can afford and what makes sense for everyone that you want there to be there and to just have fun. Just like your wedding, this should be a reflection of you!
