We had the pleasure of collaborating with Vianne Ho of Vianne Makeup and Sierra Garman of Blush + Bridal to get their thoughts on some of the most frequently asked questions from clients! As a former model turned make-up artist + hairstylist, Vianne has been around glam from a very young age. Likewise, Sierra has been working as in the industry for 10 years! They’re both incredible artists with a passion for what they do! See their expert opinions below on some of the top questions you may have for your glam team:

Do I need a trial run before my wedding day?
“I highly recommend all my brides do a makeup and hair trial 2-3 weeks before their wedding day. A trial will give the clients the opportunity to communicate exactly what type of makeup look they want for their wedding day. Also for makeup artists to be aware of clients’ skin/hair conditions, their preference, and the styles that suit them. You don’t want to hate your hair or makeup on the day of the wedding, so a trial is always worth it so that your preferences and desires are exactly what you want!” – Vianne
How should I come prepared to my appointment?
“Exfoliating the night before goes a long way and creates a smooth surface for the makeup artist on the day-of! Also, a fresh face with no makeup! SPF and a light moisturizer is fine however. If the client does not have SPF or moisturizer on already, the makeup artist will apply.” – Sierra
What’s airbrush makeup? + What are the benefits of airbrush makeup?
“Airbrush makeup is a technique that’s using a special sprayer, the machine creates an even surface of foundation across the skin. The system is created with a compressor that provides a smooth and controlled airflow through a medical-grade tube and nozzle. Airbrush makeup can last at least 12 hours or longer. It creates flawless finish and smoother skin.” – Vianne

How do I book you for my wedding date? Do you require a deposit? What about a contract?
“Usually artists require 25 – 50% of the total package of services deposit to secure your big day. A well-written contract will list the services being provided to each member of your wedding party with a schedule of appointment times. There should also be provisions made for unusual or unforeseen events like cancellation of the contract or illness on the wedding day.” – Vianne
How long will it take to get makeup & hair for the bride and bridal party?
“Most artists will need a minimum of 40-45 minutes with each bridesmaid for each service. For the bride’s makeup and hair, it will take about 2-3 hours. We want to make sure we carefully plan enough time on the wedding day so that preparations are not too rushed. This is where your planner can step in to help make a detailed and efficient timeline so that things don’t feel rushed and everyone knows what their time slot is for glam.” – Vianne

How do I keep my makeup fresh for the whole day? How will the product wear? What about color-matched products to touch up with?
“Choice of products is very important, and having an artist that can tailor those products to fit your needs and skin. Professional products will stay fresh looking for many hours longer than most consumer-grade products. Many artists will also provide products for touch-ups at her cost or include it in her services.” – Vianne
What if my lip color doesn’t last all day?
“We always recommend finding a lip color prior to the event so that the client can reapply as the night goes on. Also, keeping a lip balm or chapstick handy to refresh will help keep the lips moisturized and refresh the color!” – Sierra
