Top 3 Things To Have While Planning A Birthday Party That’s Unforgettable
Guess what?! June is my birthday month! I say “month” because I take the entire month to celebrate. I have since I was a little kid, just ask my parents. Not in a 30-day-non-stop-soiree sort of way (phew, exhausting!) but because my birthday is at the end of the month, every day in June feels special to me as it draws nearer. On my actual birthday this year, I’ll be working a wedding at the lovely Triunfo Creek Vineyards and I am so excited! It’s one of my favorite venues and this couple is the sweetest. We have some design magic coming at you and I can’t wait to see it come to life. (Take a peek at one of my favorite weddings we did there last year). So for anyone else about to have their birthdays, I wanted to share a few must have tips to planning a birthday party:
Good People
My #1 tip to planning a birthday party, is to invite the best people in your life. As I get older (oh geez), I realize how important friendships and family are to everyday life. While you can definitely have a large guest list with acquaintances and live it up like a rock star, I would encourage you to view your birthday as an opportunity to gather the people who really mean the most to you. The people who’s energy you love and love you unconditionally. I promise you, filling your environment with these types of people will make your birthday meaningful and not just another party. Find your community and love them well.
Good Food
What is a party without delicious food? You don’t have to go overboard and serve a 4-course meal, but celebrating a birthday is a time to indulge a little. Even something as simple as a charcuterie board is elevated with great, quality ingredients. And guests will notice! If mac ‘n cheese is the guest of honor’s favorite meal, go for it…but make it homemade and fresh, or cater it in and I guarantee, it’ll enhance the entire event.

A great playlist sets the tone for the entire event! While planning a birthday party, use the location and guest list as your guides to what music to play. Do you want guests to have a blast and be up dancing to today’s hits, or an intimate, laid back crowd that would appreciate mellow background music? Building your playlist ahead of the event will give you a stress-free way to boost the mood of the party. You can always adjust as needed.

While I’m heading into another year, I’ve realized that life is nothing without those you love most around you. At the end of the day, what matters most is the people you surround yourself with. The ones that lift you up, support and love you. I’m so deeply grateful for family, for friends who have become family and for the clients that hire and trust me to serve them the best that I can. Thank you! This year has been one of huge growth for my business from moving into an office space at WeWork, to expanding my team. I’m reminding myself to stop, take a step back and recognize all the hard work I’ve put in to get myself to where I am today and that’s something I’m so dang proud of!
