Our Guest

Welcome back to The Local Table podcast, friends! I am so excited to share the first episode of 2020. It’s been a wild year so far, so I wanted to chat with someone who can help us tackle the stress, anxiety and uncertainties we’re all facing. Today we’re talking to Danielle McGhee, a Reiki Master and Healing Touch Practitioner in San Diego. Danielle has spent the past 7 years studying reiki, mindfulness and meditation and has her own company The Moon Medicine. In addition, Danielle is a yoga teacher who wants to empower people to open up their energy to self-heal. You can reach Danielle on her website and on her instagram

Key Takeaways + Tips

  • Danielle: Everyday life can feel hectic; we’re connected 24/7, which can be beautiful but it also means we carry the rest of the world’s grief and drama with us all the time
  • Kari: We internalize the heaviness of tragedies around the world and empathize with our past traumas, or people we know, etc.
  • Danielle’s mantra is, “What’s mine is mine, what’s yours is yours. I’ll hold space infinitely for you to be in your space of healing”.
  • Danielle: Just by us being in our mastery, falling so deeply in love with the work we do…it can change the collective.
  • Danielle: This work has given me more connection to myself, my body, my family, to others, etc.
  • Danielle: Don’t be a martyr. You don’t have to suffer to take care of other people.
  • Danielle’s advice is to create a practice that let’s you be in the world.
  • Danielle: “What if just today, I thought differently?”
  • Danielle: You are deserving of a joyful, beautiful and peaceful life.

Danielle’s Four Daily Practices You Can Start Today:

1. Daily Observations: Observe the environment you cultivated for yourself. Observe your physical body and check a few times a day to where you hold stress. Lastly, observe your habitual thoughts. For example, when greeted with an opportunity, do you automatically go to fear?

2. Take Multiple Deep Breaths

3. Find Connection Everyday

4. Find Laughter and Humor
