Ways To Give Back and Where To Do So

It’s that time of year and many of us are looking for ways to give back, how to give back and who to give back to! However, it can be overwhelming to figure out where your money is best allocated. I have a few tips on how to find an organization where you can make the most impact. Some of these organizations I’ve worked with closely with. Others are causes that I believe in and really feel passionate about solving those issues. Here are a few tips on how you can decide where to give back:

Find Your Passion

First, figure out what you’re passionate about. Do you want to help build water wells, feed the hungry, build schools in Africa, help eradicate diseases, end homelessness, fix gun control, put an end to sexual harassment or sex trafficking. The list could go on and on but find 2 to 3 causes that really pull at your heart strings. Granted, all of these pull at my heartstrings and make me want to donate to each cause but the reality is, I can’t afford to do that and some hit closer to home than others so I’m picking and choosing.

Donate to 2 to 3 causes to make the most impact. You’ll see the most impact over time when you are a consistent donor to organizations. Don’t just give money, give your time. Many organizations are looking for volunteers to help on the ground or behind the scenes with tasks that need to get done and help make them more successful. Nonprofits run off of volunteers and time is so valuable and a great option if you can’t donate financially.

Organizations I LOVE:

1. Generosity.org – Their mission is to end the clean water crisis by providing sustainable water wells to communities all around the world.
2. Good City Mentors – Their mission is to provide mentorship programming to inner city at risk youth. Personally, I volunteer with them and I am also currently raising money to sponsor a student for a year. These kids are our future leaders! If you feel inclined to help me out, please donate HERE!
3. ServeHaiti – ServeHAITI is a non-profit, faith-based organization helping the people of Grand-Bois, Haiti achieve a better life. Their vision is for Grand-Bois to grow into a thriving, self-sustaining mountain community. Where everyone has access to healthcare, education, economic opportunities, clean drinking water and nutritious food.
4. Two Wings – They educate women to help pull them out of sex-trafficking and working towards a better life.
5. AdoptTogether – Their mission to provide a home for every orphan. They are a crowdfunding platform to help families raise money for adoption.
6. Donate to your Local Red Cross – Unfortunately, there have been so many disasters this year. The Red Cross are working around the clock to provide the best resources for those in need. I know especially with the California wildfires, I’m helping as best I can by donating my resources.

This holiday season we can come together and make a big impact for people in small ways. We don’t need to donate thousands of dollars to make a difference. Sometimes just our presence and our time can be just as beneficial. I hope you feel led to give back this season in some way and know that you can make a difference!
