How Feathered Arrow Got Off The Ground
Well, it’s 2015 and Feathered Arrow is in the full swing of things! Now that everything is official, I wanted to give insight to the business and why I started Feathered Arrow. I have always loved planning events and it was something I did a lot in college. One day, a professor asked me what I wanted to do and I said, “plan events”. Truthfully, at the time, I didn’t think that was a real job. However, she reassured me that planning events was a job (and I could make money doing it). After a career transition, I fell into working with a wedding planner who decided to take me under her wings. In comes Stacey from Stacey Lynn Design! It was an incredible year of learning and getting to know the industry. We definitely had a lot of different styles of weddings; each one fun and beautiful in their own unique ways. I’m so thankful to Stacey because she helped me to start my own event planning + design business.
The Name
“Feathered Arrow” initially came from a few brainstorming sessions with a good friend of mine. It inspired me to figure out a name that was fun and meaningful. Feathered – the thought that we all come from different places around the world. Different cultures, experiences, traditions, and have different characteristics that define who we are and what we want. Arrow – the thought that even though we come from those different roads that lead us on our own unique journey, we’re all moving forward to find new adventures. To new people and new experiences. To finding beauty in the details and to making a difference. No two arrows fly the same path but we all want to reach a similar destination of happiness and love.
Giving Back
I feel so blessed to do what I do for a living so I wanted a way to give back. Additionally, I wanted to still work with nonprofits close to my heart. Therefore, with every client I book, I will donate a portion of my profits to a charity that I’ve partnered with. Two of the charities are Two Wings and ServeHAITI. I’ve worked with both of these nonprofits before and their mission and vision for changing the world is inspiring. Having a business and being my own boss is a dream come true but a challenge! I couldn’t ask for anything better. I get to design, create, plan, meet new people, be a part of their love story!
I’m looking forward to 2015, this year is all about refinement and I’m pretty excited to see what’s in store for Feathered Arrow!
A HUGE THANK YOU to Tara Messner for her amazing talent and creativity in designing the Feathered Arrow logo.
